Oregano oil
Vegetables of oregano contain up to 3% of phenol-rich oils, such as carvacrol and thymol, which can be as high as 60%. Many other active substances such as catechins, phenolic acids, or flavonoids have also been found in the oil.[1] Due to the numerous active ingredients in oregane oil, it exhibits valuable medicinal properties.
Use of oregano oil
Due to its numerous health benefits, oregano oil is used to support a wide range of illnesses. It is also used as a smoothing agent in the muscles of the smooth membranes, intestines, gall and urinary tract, in upper respiratory tract disorders, coughing, as well as obstructed discharge, in the treatment of hard-to-heal wounds, and in the body washing of patients who do not leave their beds, in order to prevent the formation of abscesses, as a cleansing agent for the inflammation of the oral cavity and throat, as an aid to the preservation of the natural antibodies in the intestinal tract and gastrointestinal tract, and as an anti-inflammatory agent in digestive and metabolic studies. It has been shown to have anti-bacterial properties in vitro due to its ability to inhibit the growth of bacteria and other organisms.
Oregano oil is contraindicated
On the website of the oil manufacturers, we can find information that the product is not suitable for people who are hypersensitive to the ingredients of the preparation, as well as for pregnant and breastfeeding women. People who are prone to constipation, who are taking medicines and who have health problems should consult their doctor before using the product. When consuming oregano oil, we should remember that it works similarly to antibiotics. This means that it can lead to impairment of the flora of the gut bacteria, so it is worth taking probiotics at the same time when taking this product.
Oregano oil is dosage
Unfortunately, there is little reliable information on the dosage of oregano oil. Therefore, it is very important to take the oil as described by the manufacturer of the preparation most often on the packaging. Following these recommendations is important, e.g. because the individual preparations contain different concentrations of active substances. The results of the studies show that the content and chemical composition of the oil vary greatly depending on a number of factors (e.g., the genetic environment).
