It belongs to those serious injuries that can occur during physical exercises, a shoulder injury. It is almost impossible to perform exercises involving the upper body without the participation of the shoulder joint - its injury can make it difficult to participate in most exercises for a long time. If we want to avoid this, we should take care of the appropriate prevention, the basis of which should be the care of the rotator cuff, as its damage is the most common cause of shoulder complaints.
Construction and operation of the rotator muscles
The articulatio humeri is a free spinal joint with the widest range of motion of all joints in the human body, making it the most vulnerable to injury. The shoulder joints themselves are unable to maintain the head of the shoulderbone in the shallow panels of the legs. This requires additional stabilization, provided by two groups of muscles: the transverse and the longitudinal. The muscles of the arm group, due to their orientation, press the head of the upper arm into the panel. All of these muscles are referred to as the cone or ring of the rotator muscles. The longitudinal group includes the muscles that support the upper limb and prevent dislocation of the head of the shoulderbone downwards, namely the deltoid, biceps, teres major, the clavicular part of the pectoralis major, and the long head of the triceps.
