During the winter season, the temperature often drops below zero, which can result in the body becoming chilled. Furthermore, the presence of snow or rain outside the window frequently intensifies the sensation of cold. It's worth ensuring a suitable diet that not only warms the body but also fortifies it.
What a suitable diet should look like in winter
Winter is a season when the risk of infection increases significantly. Proper nutrition is therefore crucial to prevent this. Large amounts of valuable compounds delivered to the body can strengthen it significantly and reduce the risk of disease. During the autumn and winter season, we are often accompanied by feelings of excessive fatigue, depression, drowsiness, and weakness. Adding warm meals and drinks to our diet warms us from the inside and allows us to improve our well-being. It is important to support the immune system throughout the year. Taking a Vitamin C tablet at the moment of feeling unwell does not significantly affect strengthening the defenses and does not protect against infections. To support the immune system, it is recommended to follow a balanced and healthy diet throughout the year. The diet should be based on fresh products and heavily processed foods should be avoided. The basis of our diet should be colorful fruits and vegetables, as they are the main source of vitamins and minerals. Soups and creams can be prepared from vegetables, while juices and shakes are a great solution. It is worth noting that raw fruits and vegetables are also an excellent source of valuable compounds. In the winter, large caloric restrictions are not recommended. At this time, the body needs energy, and excessive calorie reduction can lead to a worsening of well-being. It can also lead to a decrease in the body's defenses and metabolism, which is associated with a constant feeling of cold. The best solution is to postpone the calorie reduction period until later or adjust the deficit value according to the current well-being. Another important aspect is physical activity. Too little of it can lead to the accumulation of excess fat tissue and thus increase the risk of obesity and overweight. Physical exertion has a positive effect on human immunity – regular physical activities support the work of the immune system and thus reduce the risk of infection.
