Diabetes in children
Diabetes is considered to be one of the most common chronic diseases of developmental age. Children are most commonly affected by type 1 diabetes, but more and more young people develop type 2 diabetes, which has recently been associated with middle age or even older. In children, diabetes is particularly dangerous because episodes of both heart failure and hyperglycemia can severely disrupt the development of the nervous system. This can affect cognitive function, memory impairment and attention deficit disorders in children with poorly balanced diabetes.
