What is anorexia?

Anorexia nervosa is a popular eating disorder, also known as anorexia nervosa, which is characterized by a significant reduction in body weight as a result of restricted food intake.

Anorexia is history

The word anorexia itself is of Greek origin. In this case, it consists of two members an which is an adjective meaning negative and orexis meaning appetite. Together, it means lack of appetites. Anorexia as a disease unit was first introduced and described in 1689 by Richard Morton.

Anorexia is statistics

Mental malnutrition is a fairly common disease, affecting more than 1% of girls under the age of 16, and about 10% of women between the ages of 16 and 25. It is a complex disorder that most commonly affects girls who, because of their lifestyle, education, and profession, have to maintain a certain level of nutrition. We are talking about diets, restrictions, and assessments that must be followed in order to maintain an adequately slim appearance.

Anorexia causes and symptoms

Anorexia is a very complex disease that begins when a person begins to manipulate himself or herself, and has a wide range of symptoms, both physical and psychological. However, the most obvious symptoms of anorexia are that a person often begins to hide his or her fears and strange behaviors from everyone around him or her, and especially from family members and loved ones. But if one of them begins to notice that one of the following behaviors begins to happen again and again, in which he or she suspects a disease, but to look at the person more accurately... the most noticeable symptoms of the disease are that the use of a family member's weight loss diet often starts with a very limited amount of weight loss from the time the person starts eating to the time of the day, and the person's body weight loss begins to decrease from the point of death to the moment of death.

Anorexia is complicated

In addition, other somatic symptoms of the body include constipation stool given once every 1 2 weeks, dermatological symptoms such as: skin dryness, the back is covered with a 5 10mm mesh length (the stomach of hunger). The fat tissue of a sick person is in a state of complete decay, the face becomes stretched, the bones begin to show clearly on the surface of the skin.

Anorexia is treatment

When it comes to treating anorexia, it's not easy, on the contrary, it is very difficult to cure it. When a person's malnutrition becomes severe, hospitalization is necessary. Unfortunately, the statistics on the disease are not the best, 10% of patients die from the disease. In treatment, the advice of a clinician, a psychotherapist, sometimes even a psychiatrist and a dietitian is necessary, because the problems of a psychological nature go hand in hand with purely physical problems. However, only with professional medicine, psychotherapy and dietary treatment applied over a long period of time is it possible to cure this disease.
