Detoxing – Much More Than Just a DietA healthy, well-proportioned figure is based on balanced nutrition and regular detoxification, but that alone is not enough! Many people experience stress and a hectic lifestyle; tension and lack of physical activity strain the body and skin, affecting both appearance and well-being. If you want to be both healthy and attractive, you must also move! A simple diet does not automatically result in weight loss.In fact, the body often responds to reduced food intake by slowing down its metabolism – burning up to 20% fewer calories to adapt to the new situation. However, exercise accelerates metabolism.Another crucial factor for well-being is both physical and mental relaxation. After periods of tension, moments of relaxation must follow! However, this requires time – something most people today lack.A great way to find time for the regeneration of body and mind is to utilize free weekends. If you dedicate one weekend a month to a combination of wellness and detox, you not only feel better and support your diet with relaxation or fitness exercises but also regain mental clarity and energy.Exercise – The Key to a Slim FigureNature has equipped us with about twelve kilograms of muscle to walk upright, run, jump, and climb stairs. If we do not move enough, we lose muscle mass, and the body sneakily stores fat. Our muscles are the only true “fat burners” – the more muscle mass, the more fat is burned! This means that the less movement, the fewer muscles, and the fewer opportunities to burn fat. Many fitness guides claim that muscles only start burning fat after 30 minutes of exercise. That is not true.If you train properly, your muscles draw energy from fat reserves from the very first second. However, paradoxically, the more intense the activity, the less fat is burned. For example, when climbing stairs: if you take one step per second, you burn 80% fat and 20% sugar. If you take two steps per second, the ratio reverses, and you burn at most 20% of your body fat. Conclusion: You do not have to exhaust yourself for the sake of your figure. Regular, moderate exercise – with a heart rate below 130 beats per minute (measurable with a heart rate monitor) – is the most effective way to burn fat. Endurance training is the best method to shed excess pounds. An added bonus is that movement releases endorphins, which improve mood.Relaxation – Mental ReliefRegarding our reaction to stress, we still function like our Stone Age ancestors: when confronted by a wild animal, they had the choice to fight or flee. Today, we no longer have those options in stressful situations. Instead of releasing pent-up energy, we suppress our feelings. If this happens frequently, the body remains in a state of chronic tension and defense.Stress factors are everywhere. Work is often hectic. City life is exhausting – noise, pollution, traffic jams, crowded public transport. Even private life can be challenging: conflicts in relationships, worries about children, the daily challenge of organizing household tasks and meals.Women, in particular, tend to overburden themselves by trying to do everything perfectly. The result: they constantly analyze problems, find it difficult to switch off, and lose the ability to enjoy small pleasures like a walk in the sun. Their pain threshold and resistance decrease, making them more susceptible to diseases and infections. If this state sounds familiar, it is high time to relax. This also means mentally detoxing – letting go of stress and excessive thoughts! Mental relaxation releases blockages and cramps in the body and positively influences overall well-being. Scientifically proven, regular relaxation makes muscles more flexible, deepens breathing, improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, balances hormone levels, and strengthens the immune system.Sleep – The Best RecoveryNo matter which relaxation method you choose, always make sure you get enough sleep. Sleep is the best and most natural form of recovery. Treat yourself to a long night’s sleep on weekends! After a restful night, the world is back in order – you are in a good mood, fit, and ready for the challenges of the day.During the night, many bodily functions slow down. Body temperature drops by a few tenths of a degree, breathing becomes shallower and slower, heart rate decreases, and blood pressure drops. The body produces fewer stress hormones than in the waking state, while melatonin levels increase. In short, the body works much slower during sleep, allowing us to recharge for the next day. The only organ that works intensively at night is the skin – between midnight and four in the morning, cell division is particularly active. Therefore, sleep is the best wellness and beauty treatment and the perfect support for a detox weekend.Tip: Do not feel guilty about taking a short nap on the couch on weekends. Even a short daytime sleep is incredibly refreshing.
