Integrating autumn fruits into your diet brings numerous benefits as they supply the body with crucial vitamins and minerals, fortify immunity, are delicious, and exhibit extensive applications in cooking. Fruits are frequently linked with desserts, but they are increasingly being employed in the creation of savory and healthy meals. It's worth accepting the challenge and uncovering new flavors through autumn fruits!
Why it is beneficial to use seasonal fruits
A varied diet contributes to the proper functioning of the body and health. The basis of nutrition are vegetables and fruits that should be consumed daily, as they are a source of vitamins, minerals, water, and fiber. Fruits are a good substitute for sweets, as they are also sweet, but they provide a much greater satiety than sweet potatoes or smoothies. This is due to the nutritional fats that, after providing the body with the right amount of water (which is also in the fruits), swell and fill the stomach. Thanks to this, hunger does not appear as quickly as with sweets. Of course, it is not recommended to eat unlimited amounts of fruits! The recommended amount is 2–3 servings per day. This should not be exceeded due to the high fructose content in fruits. Especially people with diabetes, insulin resistance, or non-alcoholic fatty liver disease should adhere to the recommendations. In addition, for people with impaired glucose and insulin metabolism, it is worth combining fruits with products that provide fat and protein (e.g., apple with nuts and yogurt). Such a combination allows for lowering the glycemic load of the meal, which leads to slower glucose absorption into the blood. There are different types of fruits - some are sour and are suitable, for example, for stuffing meat, others are sweeter and are perfect for cakes or cookies. The addition of root spices to autumn fruits enhances their taste. It is worth using the gifts of nature in autumn and preparing with them cakes, cookies, oatmeal, porridge, compote, cocktails, juices, smoothies, jelly, or jellies. Autumn fruits usually have intense colors - from yellow, green, through red to purple. Most people are visual eaters, who eat with their eyes, so it is worth taking care of the aesthetics of dishes, especially in the case of children. Toddlers are more likely to try something new if it is served attractively. Fruits are a good source of antioxidants. They are a vitamin bomb that fights free radicals and slows down the aging process. They have a positive effect on the digestive tract and support its proper functioning. They reduce the risk of heart and circulatory diseases and cancer.
