According to the definition, wine is an alcoholic beverage that contains ethanol and is produced through the process of grape fermentation. There is an enormous number of grape varieties from which wine is made, but only select varieties constitute the international forefront.
History of wine
The history of wine goes back to very ancient times. There are references to it in myths and references, and of course in the Bible. It is certain that around 3000 years B.C.E. The cultivation of grapes was known in Mesopotamia, Egypt, Asia Minor and Greece. Interestingly, in the vicinity of Damascus, a press for pressing grapes has been discovered, which dates back to 6000 BC, which would indicate an even earlier use of the grapes for wine production.
