For certain individuals, training the forearm muscles is of utmost significance, while others assert that it's a waste of time and that the forearm muscles develop adequately through other exercises. However, it's worth noting that forearm muscles can be relatively easily expanded. Moreover, you can exercise them even at home. So, how does forearm training look like, and can it be ignored? How can one train their forearms to increase their size, and how can one improve grip strength, irrespective of whether one is training for aesthetic or functional purposes?
Anatomy of the forearm - two sides of the forearm
It is simple to divide the forearm into the bending side and the straightening side. These two sides perform independent roles both during the grip training and in the context of hypertrophy. It is recommended to train both sides of the forearm to develop grip strength and achieve the desired appearance of the forearm. The bending side is located on the inside of the hand up to the very bottom of the elbow. The straightening side is located on the opposite side, which makes it easy to determine which part is responsible for performing various movements. In strength training, the bending side is often overloaded because the biceps are often trained.
