Environment-related chronic diseases are non-communicable ailments that occur globally and are known as the 21st century epidemic. They are not caused by infections, but rather by the progress and changes in the environment. Stress, low physical activity, or the fast-paced lifestyle are just a few factors that contribute to the development of environment-related chronic diseases. Preventing their occurrence can be achieved by modifying certain habits and introducing some lifestyle changes.
Civilization-related diseases – definition
Civilization-related diseases, also known as social diseases or lifestyle diseases, are non-communicable conditions that spread rapidly. They are global in nature and occur in both highly developed and developing countries. They pose a significant challenge to medicine as their occurrence in most cases is associated with long-term treatment and can lead to disability and even death. It is estimated that civilization-related diseases are responsible for over 80% of premature deaths (A. Lipińska-Ojrzanowska et al., 2019).
