What is a deadlift?

A deadlift is a comprehensive exercise that can be performed in many variations. Different methods of performing a deadlift allow us to choose the appropriate version for our current training goals. From the traditional deadlift, through sumo, with the bar 'trap bar', Romanian, to a single-leg deadlift, if you want to improve your physique, strength, or performance, introduce deadlifts into your training plan. Here, we will focus on the traditional deadlift, as each other variation may have a different application in training.

Dead lift - what purpose does it serve?

Many individuals who train wonder what the purpose of the dead lift is. The answer is simple: there is no other exercise as effective as the dead lift for lifting heavy weights and stimulating a large group of muscles. Furthermore, learning this exercise is very useful in everyday life, as it allows you to lift heavy objects from the ground without the risk of back injury. This is also a reason why the dead lift should be taught in schools by qualified teachers. It is also important to emphasize that during this exercise, the main muscles involved are the back, thighs, and glutes.

Musculature in the posterior pelvic area

A highly significant element during dead stretching is -- these muscles aid in hip extension, which is the straightening of the hip -- the hip joint is an exceedingly powerful extensor, so it performs a substantial task here, particularly in the pulling phase known as the lockout.

"The quadriceps muscles"

The quadriceps muscles do the most work when the knees are straightened. Just like the glutes, they are an essential component of the entire movement, because it's uncommon for the knee to be bent at an angle greater than 70 degrees during lifting.

A group of oblique-thigh muscles

All the components are heavily involved in movement, and the bicephalous muscles collaborate with the gluteal muscles and the abdominal muscles to situate the body in a straight line.

Four-legged muscle

It plays an important role during dead strings, and it often rewards itself in the form of height and more strength. Do you do the dead string? Do you make strings? Can you imagine the movement of a dead string and think about how the strap works on our body? Forget it! The strap pulls us down, that is, the entire quadriceps muscle counteracts the depression of the shell.

Expanding the forearm muscles

We're talking about substantial weights here, but not everyone thinks about the necessity to hold these weights in their hands. Of course, there are straps, but that's not an optimal solution, because grip strength should be continuously developed.

The accurate technique of deadlifting

There is a lot of information available about how to perform the deadlift correctly, but unfortunately, we still see people who perform this exercise with such poor technique that it is easy to see that they have back problems. I hope you are not one of these people. If you have doubts about your technique, please keep reading. Deadlifting is one of the most important exercises in the gym, which shows our weak points. If the trainer is qualified and experienced, he can recognize what is a technical problem and what is a muscle weakness problem. The correct technique of deadlifting is very important and should be a priority. If you see someone who performs this movement with a weight up to the limit of their abilities, they deserve respect. The technique is the most important thing here, and the weight should be subordinated to it. Deadlifting is not a difficult exercise if you know its biomechanics and can position yourself correctly. However, most people cannot do this and need the help of a trainer. Unfortunately, it can happen that even the trainer does not always know what he is doing, which leads to errors. Therefore, I recommend that you record videos of performing this exercise and analyze your errors yourself. You can always ask someone with more experience for help. The fact that someone performs the deadlift differently than you does not mean that their technique is better. Everyone is different and must find their own way to perform this exercise correctly.
