Check the quantity and avoid excessive consumption

It's difficult to talk about controlling the quantity of meals when most people are meeting a family they haven't seen for a while at a meticulously planned holiday feast. It's equally challenging to decline additional dishes that have been specially prepared for the occasion. However, that doesn't mean you have to consume everything in excessive portions. It's worth convincing your loved ones that healthy nutrition is important to you. Instead of overindulging in the first courses, it's better to eat less and try other flavors. This way, you won't have to turn down the next meal. Of course, if necessary, you can always abstain from the extra salad or another slice of cake.

Let's not rush and leisurely savor the taste

During the holiday season, the frequency of meals served can be compared to a big wedding. The hosts are happy to serve the dishes as they have been prepared especially for that evening for the whole family. On one hand, it is nice, but on the other hand, it can be potentially dangerous – in this way, you can easily lead to overeating. Each meal should be eaten slowly and chewed carefully. If meals are eaten in haste, we swallow too large bites which then enter the stomach and fill it significantly. The more the food is crushed, the better the digestion – so you can try a greater number of dishes. Eating too large portions in a short time can also lead to nausea, bloating, constipation or heartburn.

Do not neglect fluids

Fluids play a significant role in nutrition. Even children are recommended to drink meals with hot tea or water. Drinks facilitate the absorption of food, which further supports the digestive system. Therefore, during the holiday season, it is worth paying special attention to proper hydration. Instead of colorful and sweet drinks, it is better to choose more natural options such as tea or mineral water. Another good suggestion is a holiday compote from dried fruits, which has a positive effect on the stomach. It is also advisable not to neglect herbal products, which not only improve digestion but also support the functioning of the intestines - which can be very helpful in certain cases. It is also important to supplement the home pharmacy with products such as mint and basil, which can be helpful in fighting overeating.

Let's not forget the necessity of physical activity!

The holiday season is often associated with relaxation and rest, although it is often accompanied by a great deal of exhausting preparations. Many people believe that since it is a time off from work and school, all activity should be restricted. In reality, however, many people spend a significant amount of time in front of the television or computer during this period, while consuming large amounts of food. However, it is important to remember that the most important ally of our body is physical activity. It is not a marathon or an intense workout in the gym that takes longer than two hours. After consuming holiday dishes, it is worth taking a walk on your own, rather than sitting in an armchair.
