Numerous botanical and animal preparations incorporate deer antlers. Are we encountering a cost-saving marketing ploy, or is this perhaps another indication of nature's astounding properties?
Growing deer antler is the most commonly used form of deer antler that comes from deer or elk and is administered orally. The origins of this preparation can be found in traditional Chinese medicine where its regenerative properties were utilized. Furthermore, folk medicine recognizes deer antler as a natural means of enhancing libido.
Antlers of deer are primarily utilized as a component of formulations intended to rebuild impaired skin, corneal tissue of the eye, and oral mucosa. The cells comprising this formulation stimulate reparative processes, thus providing the opportunity to reorganize damaged structures. It is also noteworthy that these cells are currently the most rapidly proliferating tissue in the animal kingdom. During the initial phase of growth, the regeneration rate can reach up to two centimeters per day.
However, no studies have been conducted thus far to determine the optimal dosage of this substance. Nevertheless, it is believed that the dosage should resemble the following: – 500 mg/day is the most commonly used dosage when supplementing with this substance, – 1000-2000 mg/day is the most popular portion within the recommendations of Chinese medicine.
