When practicing any type of sports discipline, it is very important to limit the risk of damage that can significantly hinder our progress. Proper use of mobilization techniques helps restore appropriate flexibility and range of motion in joints. In addition, we eliminate muscle cramps that limit the working capacity of muscles. In this article, we will discuss the most important mobilization techniques; we will focus on the manner of their execution and the benefits that come from their implementation into our plan.
Mobilization of compression
The application of mobilization of compression is particularly significant in combating muscle pain, eliminating distorted muscle fibers, releasing trigger points, maintaining proper muscle contraction strength, and restoring the correct sliding movement between muscles and skin. This technique promotes the involvement of deeper layers of connective tissue and muscle. Therefore, it is an excellent solution during the elimination of trigger points, which can also be responsible for pain in other parts of the body. Muscles should be elastic throughout their length, and trigger points are usually hard and sensitive to touch. Trigger points not only cause pain in a specific location or radiating pain to other areas, but also limit the range of motion and can lead to pathologies in the joint area as well. Thanks to the application of mobilization of compression, we can break and loosen the hardened tissue, restoring its function. This technique should be applied after training and before sleep, but it is not recommended to use this method before training. For its application, a hard ball or roller is required.
