Flaxseeds are an extremely rich source of dietary fiber, making up 27% of dry weight. Most of this is soluble fiber, which lowers total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels, having a positive impact on the prevention of heart diseases, including atherosclerosis. Furthermore, flaxseeds are a source of omega-3 fatty acids, which also lower LDL cholesterol levels and have an anti-inflammatory effect. Flaxseeds also possess anti-cancer properties, and regular consumption decreases the rate of cancer cell growth and supports the development of bone mass.
The systematic application of flaxseed brings with it a number of benefits. It is primarily a source of many nutrients, including unsaturated fatty acids and easily digestible proteins. Additionally, it possesses therapeutic and preventive properties in cases of digestive, respiratory, and even cancerous issues, which attests to its uniqueness. Considering the aspects of health and proper functioning of the body, the inclusion of flaxseed in one's diet should be contemplated.
