Polymer diet
A polymeric diet is a way of eating based on unprocessed, natural nutrients. Whole, undifferentiated molecules, e.g. protein, however, require proper digestion in the digestive system, so the diet is not suitable for people with metabolic and absorption disorders. This diet is well-balanced and covers the body's total energy needs. Protein should be 1525%, carbohydrates 2560%, and fat 2540% of the daily diet.
Oligomeric diet
In patients with digestive and absorption disorders or pancreatic exogenous insufficiency, an oligomeric diet is used. This diet is characterized by less osmolarity and easier absorption of nutrients. It is a small-molecule, chemically defined diet. Protein is a chain-length peptide of 250 amino acids dieptides and tripeptides, as well as a free amino acid.
Monomeric diet
In digestive disorders and Crohn's disease exacerbations, a monomeric diet is used. It is an elementary diet whose components have been enzymatically hydrolysed. Small nutrient molecules are well absorbed by the diseased digestives system. Protein is free amino acids and carbohydrates are glucose and oligosaccharides. Fats are essential fatty acids, and MCTs. Monomeric diets are characterized by low sodium content, high osmolarity, but not deprived of the essential nutrients of the dietary system.
