The medicinal properties of medical marijuana
Marijuana contains two active substances that, according to current knowledge, have medicinal effects. These are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol). Of these, only THC has psychoactive effects, however, one and the other compounds are used in medicine. THC, for example, can relieve nausea and stimulate appetite, and is also helpful in relieving symptoms associated with constipation. CBD, in turn, has the potential to relieve inflammation, neurodegenerative processes, or psychotic states.
What Marijuana Treats
Different studies indicate that marijuana may be used to treat or alleviate symptoms of certain diseases. However, studies of efficacy in people with multiple disorders have shown that multiple disorder is an autoimmune inflammatory disease where neuronal damage occurs. It leads to a significant decrease in the quality of life. People with the disease may be accompanied by different symptoms: pain, spasticity, memory impairment, impaired limbs, chronic fatigue.
Medical marijuana in Poland
Only one drug containing THC and CBD is available in Poland. It is intended for people with multiple sclerosis suffering from spasticity at the first stage, where the current standard treatment has not been effective. However, for the sake of saving lives and health, it is possible to bring to Poland preparations from abroad, which contain the active components of marijuana (Marinol, Cesmet) in their composition. This is the so-called end-imported drug.
