It's the total cholesterol
Lipids, such as cholesterol and triglycerides, circulate in the blood to form lipoproteins, which are linked to proteins in the body. They also carry the sum of the lipids synthesized in the fraction of blood to the tissues, which determines their biological functions. Several groups of lipoprotein can be distinguished which are also often referred to as classes. These include: chylomicrons carry lipids from LDL cholesterol to other LDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol (very low-density cholesterol) also carry a sum of lipids produced in the fatty acid fraction to the tissue, HDL cholesterol (good-densities lipoproproteins), HDL-like lipid-mediated steroids (non-fatty lipid glycosides) from the body to the body's lipid, which is also called lipid hydrolysate. In general, it is called LDL cholesterol (high cholesterol cholesterol) and VL LDL cholesterol.
Cholesterol is normal
Based on the current state of knowledge, the correct levels of individual lipoproteins for healthy people with a low risk of cardiovascular disease are recognised as: triglycerides: < 150 mg/ dl (< 1.7 mmol/ l), total cholesterol: < 190 mg/ l (< 5 mmol / l), LDL: < 115 mg/ dl (< 3.0 mmol (l), HDL cholesterol for women: > 45 mg / dl (> 1.2 mmol) and for men > 40 mg/dl (> 0.1 mmol or l).
What about cholesterol statins?
However, if the results of the LDL and triglyceride blood fraction tests exceed the recommended levels, the risk of developing cardiovascular disease is first of all increased. So long as a higher HDL cholesterol level is beneficial and there is no need to worry about it, then the cholesterol level of LDL and troglycerides should not exceed what is recommended for healthy people. If the result of the last two parameters exceeds the recommended values, then you should first take a look at your diet, and especially at the types of fatty acids that you eat. If you have too high HDL and don't have to worry, then your cholesterol level should not be higher than what you'd like for a healthy person.
